Who Taught Us That Sentiment Is Weak? The same people who forgot how legacy is built.

What We Leave In The Walls By Kaiana Lewis

A Long Look Through 20+ Years at How Scentaments Designs Began

From its early days in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, Scentaments Designs has been more than a flower shop — it has been a keeper of stories, a cultivator of memory, and a creator of legacy. Flowers here are not fleeting; they are heirlooms, vessels of memory, and threads in the fabric of home and family. Over the years, Scentaments has pioneered a new way of seeing florals — as more than blooms, but as living stories that can be passed from one generation to the next, keeping love, memory, and sentiment alive in every home it touches.

It was in the early years of a new millennium — when households still balanced between handwritten letters and newly buzzing inboxes — that Scentaments first found its footing in Goodlettsville, Tennessee.

Yet it was 2003 when matters truly began to flourish.

As the wider world witnessed the steady rise of a young search engine called Google — reshaping how information was gathered and shared — Scentaments was quietly building its own reputation the traditional way: by word of mouth, firm handshakes, and arrangements delivered with care.

Under devoted stewardship, the shop became known for thoughtful service and affordable beauty. By 2006, florals had taken center stage, expanding from natural household goods into wedding bouquets, sympathy sprays, and Valentine’s Day offerings that brought visible delight to their recipients.

Through seasons of economic uncertainty — including the financial downturn of 2008² — Scentaments endured, proving that even in difficult times, flowers remained essential to human expression. Weddings were simplified, sympathy arrangements grew more personalized, and “thinking of you” bouquets quietly increased.

Editor’s Note¹: The mid-2000s saw a rise in compact rose bouquets and baby’s breath accents, as minimal elegance briefly overtook the lavish styles of the 1990s.
